In November 2010, we began developing dog sports apparel . While there was a wide range of clothing available for dog sports , compromises always had to be made. Dog sports jackets on the market at that time were well-suited for dog sports in terms of robustness and pockets, but they lacked the functionality of a good outdoor jacket. Therefore, we set ourselves the goal of combining the advantages of a dog sports jacket (robustness, numerous specialized pockets) with the advantages of a good outdoor jacket. material

One of the most important things is good material. The material must meet many requirements at once. It must be highly durable (scratch-resistant) but not stiff or uncomfortable to ensure a high level of comfort. To create a waterproof, windproof, and breathable jacket, the material must also be treated with a functional layer.

After many scratch, rub and bite tests (see…) we have found a suitable material that meets all the requirements.

bags

Suitable bags are essential for dog training. To be able to quickly and effectively reward the dog at the right moment, you need bags that are easily accessible and offer plenty of space for treats and a ball.

All patch pockets on the front of the jacket are designed as bag pockets to ensure quick access while offering ample storage space.

For large toys and a suitable reward option, a large back pocket is essential for any good dog sports jacket. The access to this large back pocket (also called a game pocket) is designed with an arched opening for easy access. You can never have too many pockets, so there's another deep chest pocket on the front of the jacket, which can be closed with a waterproof zipper, as well as additional pockets inside the jacket for a wallet, cell phone, and a pen.

Extra reinforced seams

A key feature of high-quality dog ​​sports apparel is good stitching. We ensured that all seams were sewn with very strong thread and that a bar tack (extra reinforced seam) was used at the pocket openings to prevent the pockets from tearing. The large back pocket (game pocket) needs to withstand heavy use when quickly retrieving large toys for the dog, so an additional rivet was added to the pocket openings for extra stability.

Furthermore, all seams were welded to ensure waterproofness even at the seams.

zipper

A good dog sports jacket needs a good zipper. You definitely shouldn't skimp on that. That's why we opted for high-quality zippers from YKK. We used a two-way YKK zipper for the front center zipper, so you can open the jacket from the bottom for dog training, allowing for unrestricted squatting. The zipper above the patch chest pockets is also from YKK and features a waterproof lining.

hood

Since you're out and about with your dog in all kinds of weather (dog training, dog sports, walks), you need a well-designed hood. We opted for a 3-dimensionally adjustable storm hood. The numerous adjustment options guarantee a perfect fit. The hood can be completely removed or stowed away in the collar.

comfort

Clothing must also be comfortable. Many small but important details contribute to this. As already mentioned, the functional yet pleasant outer material is essential. However, a well-designed lining is also important, allowing for easy dressing and undressing. Furthermore, a zipper garage at the chin prevents pinching. A high storm collar with soft fleece ensures a comfortable feel. The adjustable cuffs, as well as a drawstring at the waist and hem with elastic cords, allow for a perfect fit.

In dog sports, as a handler, you're sometimes active and sometimes just standing around. Therefore, you need to be able to adjust your jacket to your current needs. Underarm ventilation helps with optimal climate control.

Comfort also means being able to easily identify your jacket. Especially in a club, where several teammates wear the same jacket, a name tag inside is an important detail.

Security

When walking the dog at night, it's essential to be clearly visible. The reflective strips on the chest and shoulders ensure good visibility.
